Our planned vision for health and care professionals for the AKI national programme is: A future in which health and care professionals will think about kidney status as they do now about blood pressure and heart rates. We’d like to share with you our ideas for branding. We are calling the programme Think Kidneys because it captures our vision for the programme perfectly for both professionals and patients and the public. We’ve had some design work done. We wanted to create a mark that will identify the programme and its outputs for health and care professionals. And ultimately with patients and the public – we are considering running a campaign in 2016. Here are three to consider. Tell us what you think about each of them and why they work or don’t work. Take part in our poll (above) and we'll let you know which one we will ultimately select. You'll have helped us enormously. To vote you will need to register rather than enter as a guest or alternatively just put A, B or D in a post. UPDATE October 7, 2014.Thank you for taking part in this discussion and poll, which are now closed. We hope to have a branding identity to share with you in early November. Your comments, and those of workshops participants, have greatly helped us shape our thinking and the resultant branding.

Comment on Mark A: In this one the slogan cant be clearly seen from a distance, therefore not good for posters and flyers.
Comment on Mark B: Here the slogan is very clear and the style maybe the most appealing to the public, however the image underneath is a little small, if this could be enlarged I think this is the best.
Comment on Mark D: This has a very corperate feel, both the slogan and image are clear but may not be quite so appealing to the general public.

Mark A: Would be better if the Think Kidneys was larger Mark B: Is good, but I think the kidneys need to be a bit larger, as people may not realise they are kidneys Mark D: I don't think the public will realise that the large K is made up of part of a Kidney.

Mark A: I prefer this one as I think the public will latch on to this. Could do with the wording made a bit larger. Mark B: I do not think people will understand that the pictures are supposed to be kidneys and that the speech marks are kidneys. Does not really stand out. Mark D: The large K is not clear as a kidney and again I do not think the public would understand that this is supposed to be the shape of a kidney. Is very slick but I do not think it will get people's attention.

Mark A: Good but the wording needs to be bigger Mark B: Clear wording but kidneys far too small Mark D: Easy to read, which is key

Please vote for your favourite by ticking the poll at the top. We are limited to the size of the image we can show you on this site. But please note that whichever we choose the imagery and wording will be clear and obvious

Mark A - good for demonstrating where the kidneys are which would help in a public facing campaign but doesn't excite me. Mark B - I like the typeface on this one - very open and welcome would appeal to the public. Not sure about the kidney birds - if we are to use them I think they need to be closer to the name Mark D - Very professional, very academic looking only concern is whether it would appeal to the general public.

I would go for middle option with bigger kidneys.

Order of preference for public campaign A: if you ask the public where the brain (stroke campaign) or heart (MI campaign) is they do better than when you ask where kidneys are. This image does justice to informing public. Obstructive and infective causes may therefore better recognised. The text is small and it may appear patronising that think has to come off a thought cloud. The text font in B is better to have under or to the right of the kidney man.
B: I like this but it doesn't send out any new message. The font as mentioned above is good but a bit too cartoon ivied image. Good for a website image but not a public campaign
C: professional text but the K doesn't add much for me

As a patient, I think A is the best - clear, informative on location of kidneys and un-patronising. I also like B, though, but without the unnecessary inverted commas and with the kidneys closer to the text.
