Welcome to this new forum for anyone interested in the Acute Kidney Injury National Programme – “Think Kidneys” and its work – and we hope you're keen to have your say. If you want to know more about the programme visit www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/patientsafety/akiprogramme - NHS England’s Patient Safety Website. The AKI programme will be working on detection, education, intervention, risk, implementation, measurement and hydration over the coming months. For the next ten days we want to get the discussion started, by asking you some challenging questions and seeking your views on some areas of our work. We’d like you to share your thoughts and experiences, so please feel free to have your say on any of the topics we post up here – or your own ideas. So to kick off we’d like to share our planned vision for health and care professionals for the AKI programme A future in which healthcare professionals will think about kidney status as they do now about blood pressure and heart ratesDoes this vision work for you? If this is our vision for the future how far are we away from it now and What is your experience of managing AKI in your organisation?

Absolutely agree with the sentiment but we need perhaps to refine it to give clarity. For me its about the message that kidney status is as important as blood pressure and pulse in evaluating how unwell someon wis.

As a forum I welcome professional views on taking a lead from cancer services in developing more complimentary health services which can wrap around patient treatment, care and support to families. in particular i am interested in massage, acupuncture, relaxation and exercise groups, stress management courses for people with long term health conditions, support and information groups for patients and cross over with other similar groups e.g. diabetic compliance support groups, for instance to let people know about how the kidneys work and support health and the impact ill health can have on kidney health, reflexology etc.. also your views on how this could help in the prevention of AKI.
